I love you. I've decided when asked what kind of music I like I'm gonna say: "Epic".

Siren song
Some dear friends of mine where lucky (read: organised) enough to book tickets to see the marvelous Bat For Lashes at the opera house this week. They said she was amazing. I'd believe it for sure. I can't get enough of her. Catchy enough to move to, emotional enough to give you goosebumps, talented enough to make you (me) quite quite green with envy.

Build a Rocket boys...
We just got the new Elbow album. It is beautiful, elegant, heart wrenching, so so good. Seriously this song gives me goosebumps.

Music Snobbery.
What other people liked used to really influence my taste. It used to be that in my group, as soon as a song got popular we disdained the unfortunate successful band - or enjoyed them... but ironically... I love that now I'm older I kinda don't care so much. I think it must partially be that being a *working person*, not an *in school* person or *uni student* person, there's just less of a group influence. Sure I have friends, but I dont see them every day. Heck currently I don't see anyone once a month (save my husband and housemates). So I kinda just have to decide for myself what I like. It means being a music snob is a lot harder. And really, that's a good thing. Coz music snobbery... it's boring.
Dear readers, I consider myself an individual. An interesting individual no less, and I give my self some indie cred. I like music. I like good music. I like different music. But at the end of the day if its catchy - it's catchy for a reason. So whilst when people ask me what music I like I say: Radiohead, The Shins, The National, TV on the Radio, Mogwai, Trail of Dead, Foals, Pinback, Patrick Watson, The stranglers, Broken Social Scene... that doesn't mean I don't think Phil Collins is a damn fine musician. He is. I also have a small and embarrassing penchant for Linkin Park (Don't judge me!!!) - those angsty songs are so catchy!
Bono and Queen and Abba can kiss my behind though. But JT and Beyonce... they are prettttty talented. May be it's hip now anyway? Who knows? Is listening to Black Eyed Peas deeply ironic? I'm not a hipster. And I don't care. Hooray!
PS. Radiohead have a new album out though! Get it here.

Discoveries...
I've just recently found a stack of new bands I'm digging... I have no idea how behind the times I am here but they're keeping my toes tapping.
* Oh Land
* Two door cinema club
* Those dancing days
* The Honey Trees
What new discoveries have you made recently?! I find it hard to keep up with new music as I don't listen to the radio - I hear new music on these blogs though, here, here, here..

Rat grossness aside this does go towards helping my dream cause that everything in the pantry should be kept in glass jars, mostly because I love decanting things, but also because then I wouldn't be greeted by flour carnage when I meerily went to make morning cupcakes. Instead I would be greeted by something exactly like Jamie Oliver's blissful cupboard:
And maybe we need a cat. Everyone loves the Cure right?

Ok Go... Woof!
I have a soft spot for dogs. Okay it's more of a soft 'all of me' for dogs not just a meagre spot. 'Ok Go' have done it again. Another awesome video with a catchy song. I love how they kinda look nervous all the way through - god knows how many times they had to run it to get it right!!!! This made me smile a lot. Hope it does the same for you! Happy Monday my lovelies!

Music for your week
Okay this chick rocks. I know Ukulele's are the craze right now but she is so FLIPPIN cute. Check out her other songs too, she has some awesome originals. This week will be less insane. Last week I worked 68 hours. Isn't that ridiculous?

Shake it like a polaroid picture.
Love it like this. I have a two day weekend this Sunday and Monday. I'm over the moon. I'm hanging out with my folks, going to see Measure for Measure, having breakfast and a bike ride with a good friend and huggin my boy. LOTS. Don't worry I made some posts in advance. Because that's how I roll.

Sensitive flower..
I'm as sensitive as a sensitive thing at the moment. My British, stiff upper lip, tough techy side is finding it rather annoying. On the other hand how great are flight of the conchords?

Birthday music.
Timmy bought me Florence. She makes me want to dye my hair red again... Also I love light bulbs a little bit more than is reasonable I think. Oh and her voice is crazy good. Love 2.41 in. *sigh*
These chaps are super lovely too. I got their cd from my brother.
