Happy six year anniversary to us! We got married young. And what I love about that is that we have changed - but we've changed together and we've watched each other grow and we've pushed each other to be better. We grow together like two tree's - separate trunks - intertwined branches.

Things to be Thankful For*
I am thankful because five years ago today we married under the first opening of blue sky we had seen all week. Under the gum trees by the river all our friends and family who had trekked to the country watched us say yes I will. I am thankful to have people tell us our wedding and our marriage inspires them. You know what I think the secret is? We're best friends, and we try to always, always be kind to each other. I am so thankful for my Tim, my husband, my love.
My darling boy: I sometimes feel surprised that I didn't know you once. I love how you make me laugh, I love how I know where your keys are when you don't, I love how you know exactly what I'm feeling without me having to say a word, I love that you play, I love your eyes that change colour and I love this adventure we are on. Thank you.

Dear Husbando,
Thanks for making me feel happier than anyone else does, safer than anyone else does, more loved than anyone else and luckier than anyone else. I seek your comfort and approval and your happiness always. It's been a big year, lets make the next and the next even greater.
Oh... and this is the cake I made... us. him. me. ... us.

Country wedding
I went to a lovely, lovely wedding this weekend... there were peonies and greek goddess dresses, a whoooole lot of bunting, home grown flowers, a massive thunderstorm, sparklers and beautiful VW combies (that the bride and her dad are quite into!), and ohmygosh amazing white chocolate fudge cake to spare! Yum!

Wedding: How to...
* Decided to get married. See our proposal story here.
* Made a list of everything we wanted and everything we didnt want. (We all know how I feel about lists.)
* Decided how much money we had to spend. ($5000 )
* Picked location & a date.
* Got amazing friends to make amazing invitations. George did the picture (below) and Michael did the design.
* Made a website. We thought this was so cool and forward thinking of us!
* Plan, plan, plan. Make it yourself, and call upon all random & distant friends with skills.
The things weddings have:
*Clothes. I found my dress in the Strand Arcade in Sydney. In a small shop called Millenium Girl (no longer there) on sale for $300. I attempted going into a wedding dress shop once. It was horrible and I left. Sometimes I still wish I went for more of a gown, as I don't think I'll ever have another excuse to wear one (come on with that Hollywood acting career Timmy!), but at the end of the day I looked like me and was comfy. The lace is a couple of hundred years old and has been passed down the female line of my family for generations. I was the first of this generation to wear it. I also had a sapphire and ruby brooch that I inherited from my Gran and I wore flat shoes. Best decision ever. I wore a plain white ribbon in my hair.
He wore pants and a shirt from Calibre and white Vans. In the end I think his outfit came to just a bit more than mine! The only thing I insisted he have was 2 day old stubble... mmmm perfect.
*Flowers. My flowers where a mix of closed purple tulips, berrys, lambs ears, purple & blue freesias and hyacinth's and greenery too. We only got flowers for me and the cake, so they came to under $100.
*Cake. We were lucky enough to have Tim's mum make our cake. She has crazy good cake making skills. It was two offset tiers of rich fruit cake with white icing and fresh fresias and peppertree leaves on top. Oh, and lego Tim and Soph's on top. One with a T on his t-shirt and one with mechanics overalls (well I use a drill and screwdriver in my job) and princess Leah hair.
* Decoration. We decorated with flags and bunting made by my mum. She bought heaps of different coloured fabric from spotlight and sewed around 60 meters of square flags/bunting and also made giant umbalas (I call them ompalompas) which are like thai flags. We bought some marquees to cover our driveway in and set up a bar. We put a ceiling in our garage and dressed it up with swags of cheap fabric and huge containers of gumtree and peppertree branches and wildflowers we picked from down by the river. Lighting being my thing, I was in charge of this department. A kind friend at a theatre I worked at lent me a heap of lights and extension leads. I lit up the big gum tree's around our property and made pathways with rope light and fairy lights. We had festooning (party lights) under the marqees and tea lights in glass jars everywhere. We borrowed picnic tables and brightly coloured table cloths from family friends. Everyone chipped in!
* Favours. We made about 150 origami boxes out of paper that had sweet messages we had texted, emailed and left in noted for each other. Inside we put chocolates and thank yous. I have no idea how many hours (in front of the tv we put into all that origami!)
* Readings. Our reading was from The Message version of the bible and we had 1 John, Ch4, v.7 - 21. We have been to a lot of weddings that have had Ephesians 5 read. We had this on our what we DIDN'T want list.
My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God...

Presents!
Timmy bought me a beautiful locket. I believe it's from somewhere on etsy but I don't know where. It has a picture of us inside and the colour is perfect. He also gave me a bracelet that has a branch with leaves, but I don't have a picture of that one.
I bought him a leather Brooks bicycle seat! Isn't it cool? He is always sighing when he see's them on other bikes and it just clicked one day - aha! Leather is the traditional 3 year wedding anniversary gift, sold! I also made him this poster, but I've struggled to get a decent picture of it. It has 42 different fonts and I taught myself publisher to make it!

Wedding: Party!
Back at the "ranch" we mingled then had amazing speeches from our Dads and my uncle from the UK and then us. Pumpkin soup in cups and plates of paella as well as nibbles galore where brought around for people to eat. We cut our cake, made by Tims mum (detail photos are tomorrow!) and danced our first dance. We choose Naked as we came by Iron & Wine, then Postcards from Italy by Beirut next, to get everyone dancing then just heaps of fun dancing music. The Beirut song was sort of my anthem the whole time we were planning the wedding and the Iron & Wine song is kinda our song. You know how couples have those...?
Another favourite moment was an unplanned dance to John Farnham - You're the voice that Tim did. His inner actor came out and he just took over the floor being Johnny! Then he got me to join in and it was all quite ridiculous, funny and amazing. The crowd did cheer.
Later on we lit the bonfire and it was beautiful. We left at about 12am, but people carried on well into the morning. I am told that my uni mates may have carried on into Wagga town and caused some havoc... what happens in Wagga stays in Wagga!

Wedding: He & Me
It was 3 years today. Happy day to me. To us! Did you know the traditional 3 year anniversary gift is leather?! Tricky... Let me tell you! I'll let you know the present results later. The show must go on apparently, and the theatre doesn't stop for my anniversary (crazy - I KNOW!) so I'm off to work. *sigh*
Photos. I can't say I enjoy being in front of the camera. At all. But this is us. After the ceremony most of the guests went back to my parents place where the booze and food was. We signed the registry and then had a little photo session, first of all with our immediate families and then just us.

Love him.
Magic eyes that are sometimes blue and sometimes green, my best friend, thank you for the past 3 years, the 3 years before that and the many years to come.

Wedding: Ceremony
We got married outside on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River. Both our parents walked us both down the "aisle". We played a song called Ring Out The Warning Bell by The Appleseed Cast. Our minister from Sydney came down with his family to marry us. We didn't have bridesmaids or groomsmen, instead we got our really special friends to have a part in the ceremony, readings, prayers, mc-ing, helping with music etc.
It always makes me laugh that our parents ended up co-ordinated without any planning. Tim's family where the red team, they even had a red car, and mine the blue, and yes my folks at the time owned a blue car. The dogs came too. I always wanted that. My little brother had the rings and ended up holding my flowers for me.
We both cried as we said our vows, and I have to rely on others here in that almost everyone else did too. I just couldn't see coz my eyes where all blurry! My most memorable moment was Tim wiping a tear off my cheek and smiling at me as he told me "with this ring I wed you". It was a grey morning and literally as we started the ceremony at 2pm the sun came out from behind the clouds!
