Why I oughta....

*radio crackle* Houston...*crrrk* we have a problem. *crkkk* No sir it's much worse... the problem has a tail. *cerrrck*
Rat grossness aside this does go towards helping my dream cause that everything in the pantry should be kept in glass jars, mostly because I love decanting things, but also because then I wouldn't be greeted by flour carnage when I meerily went to make morning cupcakes. Instead I would be greeted by something exactly like Jamie Oliver's blissful cupboard:
 And maybe we need a cat. Everyone loves the Cure right?

Flea Market Finds...

So truth be told this isn't really from this week... but as this is my first foray into this  posting I thought it could still count AND it was a particularly awesome op-shop (thrift/charity/flea store/market)  haul.
A complete set of 60's/70's(?) flour, rice, sugar, tea and coffee tins - unfortunately covered in a bad paint job which I intend to free it from asap.
A pair of 50's style heels by Steve Madden if anyone knows/cares who he is?! Now lets face it I rarely wear heels actually I only own one other pair and as husbando pointed out to me they are also blue - albeit a different shade to these and not peep toe as I reminded him back.
Also that frenchy style scarf and a pyrex beaker, just coz.

Things to be thankful for.

* Fresh fruit juice.
* Safe delivery of the second new baby in the family, Daisy Jane!
* A wedding to enjoy in a week and a bit.
* That my lovely brother will be moving to Sydney soon.
* Crafty projects for my bored hands.
* I'm with a credit union not a bank... big banks here are screwing people over.
* Someone took the time to whisk egg whites and add sugar and discover meringue!
* The smell of roses.
* Echinacea and vitamin C have beaten back that tickle of illness I was feeling.
* Our market stall. So much fun!

{Things to be thankful for is a list I started when I began blogging. It helps me reflect on my week and remember all the good things in my life. I would love it if you played along too, leave a link in the comments and link to me on your post. *s*}

My creative space...

 So I have a rule. That rule is no thinking about christmas, christmas decorations or christmasy stuff until December the 1st. But... rules are made to be broken right? Plus I got bored and maybe a tiny bit excited and decided we need a wreath this year. The wreath will be made from a wire coat hanger and recycled lighting plans. And the scissors blister on my little finger is toughening up nicely! Also, this is more Tim's creation than mine but look at our little baby pumpkino!

Lady fingers...

See those nails? Those are mine! Neat, of equal length, a modest pale pink in colour, no scunge under them. This dear friends, is HIGHLY unusual. In fact it's completely revolutionary and new. My first manicure. I know, I'm 25 and it's my first manicure. Whatever. See, hand care really isn't a part of my job description nore my upbringing. Hands are for getting dirty, and nails, they are for biting when I'm nervous. What else did they get put there for? I've been a nail biter all my life, but this manicure thingy... well income alowing... this could change all that. I havn't biten them in hmm... 2 weeks?!
All this said I smudged one as I walked out of the shop and then I decided my next activity would be gardening - gloveless of course - coz gloves are restrictive. Mostly it's just nice to have nails of equal length and the bonus hand massage that was thrown in wasn't bad either.
What about you do most folks out there get manicures or is it a treat thing?

It's funny because it's true....

Cyanide and Happiness, a daily webcomic
Cyanide & Happiness @ Explosm.net

smells like...

Can you smell it?
Cooking tarmac and the last dregs of jasmin. Grass being cut and lawnmower engine. It smells like sheets drying in half an hour, it smells like salt and sweat and sunscreen, it smells like salad for dinner and ice cubes.
It smells like tomato and swimming costumes and mosquito repellant and peaches. It smells like an icecream craving, it smells sticky and fresh. It smells like it's carried on the breeze. It smells like shoes without socks and cold showers and gum leaves.
No doubt I'll be whinging soon about the heat so I just thought I'd say now...
Summer is coming! Hooray!

and we soaked up the sun and sold sold sold!

The markets on Saturday went so well! Look! Look at our pretty stall! The Beautiful brollys where by Basil Bangs and the whole shebang was organised by the cool kids of the bicycle film festival. I sold clean out of muffins and bicycle wheel shortbread. I even sold one of my braclets to Lee from Remy and Lee's. The collective 'PS' comrades sold their artwork, spoke cards and bicycle cards too! Generally it was just blissful fun sitting in the sun, watching the cool kids with cooler bikes peruse and chat with lovely people.

Sculpture and the sea

Ahhh sculpture by the sea. It feels like this one came around so quickly. Timmy and I took an evening stroll to see the art and threw ourselves (briefly) into the Bondi pool. My first dip in the ocean this summer!
